Description

Birinapant is a potent, cell-permeable SMAC (Second Mitochondria-derived Activator of Caspases) mimetic and IAP (Inhibitor of Apoptosis Protein) antagonist developed for targeted cancer therapeutics research. It induces apoptosis in tumor cells by antagonizing XIAP, cIAP1, and cIAP2, thereby restoring caspase activation and enhancing sensitivity to conventional chemotherapeutics and death receptor agonists. Birinapant CAS NO 1260251-31-7 is widely utilized by pharmaceutical R&D laboratories, contract research organizations (CROs), and academic oncology research groups engaged in mechanistic studies of programmed cell death and combination therapy development.

Application

  • Oncology drug discovery: Primary tool compound for evaluating IAP-targeted apoptosis induction in vitro and in vivo
  • Combination therapy research: Synergy studies with TNFα, TRAIL, doxorubicin, gemcitabine, and radiation in solid tumor and hematologic malignancy models
  • Biomarker validation: Functional assessment of cIAP1 degradation, caspase-3/7 activation, and RIPK1-dependent necroptosis modulation
  • Preclinical pharmacodynamic profiling: Dose–response analysis of target engagement in xenograft and PDX models
  • Resistance mechanism studies: Investigation of cIAP1 mutations or compensatory NF-κB pathway activation
  • High-throughput screening (HTS) assay development: As reference standard in caspase activation or ubiquitination-based assays
  • Formulation development support: Stability and solubility characterization for IV or intratumoral delivery systems

Quality Control

Our products undergo rigorous quality testing to ensure compliance with industry standards. Certificates of Analysis (COA) are available upon request. All batches of Birinapant are tested for identity (HPLC retention time, IR spectroscopy), assay (≥98.0% by HPLC), related substances (individual impurities ≤0.5%, total impurities ≤2.0%), residual solvents (meeting ICH Q3C limits), and heavy metals (≤10 ppm). Testing follows validated methods aligned with ACS Reagent Grade and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) guidelines for research-use-only compounds.

Storage

Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store at 2–8 °C under inert atmosphere (argon or nitrogen) to prevent oxidation and moisture uptake. Due to its hygroscopic nature, minimize exposure to ambient humidity during handling. Keep away from direct sunlight and strong artificial light sources.
