Description

Tung Oil CAS NO 8001-20-5 is a natural drying oil derived from the seeds of the tung tree (*Vernicia fordii*). This product is highly valued for its exceptional ability to polymerize into a hard, waterproof, and durable film upon exposure to air. It is a critical raw material for industries requiring high-performance, environmentally friendly coatings and finishes. Key users include manufacturers of wood finishes, industrial paints, inks, and specialty polymers.

Application

  • Wood Finishing & Coatings: As a primary component in high-quality varnishes, lacquers, and sealants for furniture, flooring, and marine applications due to its deep penetration and water-resistant properties.
  • Industrial Paints & Inks: Used in the formulation of corrosion-resistant paints, printing inks, and artist's paints for its fast-drying and durable film formation.
  • Polymer & Resin Production: Serves as a renewable feedstock for alkyd resins, polyurethanes, and other specialty polymers, enhancing flexibility and chemical resistance.
  • Electrical Insulation: Employed in the impregnation and coating of electrical components and transformer windings for its excellent dielectric properties and moisture resistance.
  • Adhesives & Sealants: Acts as a plasticizer and film-forming agent in the production of high-strength, flexible adhesives and caulking compounds.
  • Linoleum & Flooring: A traditional and key ingredient in the manufacture of linoleum and other resilient floor coverings.
  • Leather Treatment: Used in conditioning and waterproofing leather goods.
  • Rust Preventatives: Formulated into coatings and compounds designed to protect metal surfaces from corrosion.

Quality Control

Our Tung Oil is produced and handled under strict quality management protocols to ensure batch-to-batch consistency and performance. We provide comprehensive quality documentation, including detailed Certificates of Analysis (COA), which verify key parameters such as acid value, iodine value, viscosity, and color. Our commitment to quality ensures the product meets the stringent requirements of industrial and specialty chemical applications.

Storage

Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat sources and open flames. Due to its nature as an easily oxidized (store under inert atmosphere) drying oil, it is recommended to store under an inert atmosphere (e.g., nitrogen blanket) for long-term preservation to prevent skinning and polymerization in the container. Ideal storage temperature is between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F). Keep away from strong oxidizing agents.
