Description
Argon CAS NO 75714-55-5 is a noble gas characterized by its inert, colorless, and odorless properties. It is essential for creating controlled, non-reactive atmospheres across a wide range of industrial and scientific processes. This high-purity gas is a critical component for industries including metal fabrication, electronics manufacturing, analytical instrumentation, and research laboratories.
Application
- Welding & Metal Fabrication: Used as a shielding gas in TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding to protect the weld area from atmospheric gases like oxygen and nitrogen, preventing oxidation and ensuring clean, strong welds.
- Electronics & Semiconductor Manufacturing: Provides an inert atmosphere for crystal growth (e.g., silicon, germanium), sputtering processes for thin-film deposition, and as a carrier gas in plasma etching to prevent unwanted chemical reactions.
- Analytical & Laboratory Use: Serves as a carrier gas in Gas Chromatography (GC) and Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) spectrometry, and as a blanketing gas in sensitive chemical reactions and sample storage.
- Lighting: Fills incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs to prevent oxidation of the hot filament, thereby extending the bulb's operational life.
- Food & Beverage Industry: Employed in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) to displace oxygen, slowing down spoilage and preserving the freshness, color, and flavor of food products.
- Heat Treating & Annealing: Creates inert atmospheres in furnaces during the heat treatment of metals to prevent scaling and decarburization, maintaining material integrity.
- Window Insulation: Filled between double or triple-pane windows to improve thermal insulation and energy efficiency due to its low thermal conductivity.
- Pharmaceutical & Chemical Synthesis: Used to blanket reaction vessels and storage tanks, protecting oxygen- or moisture-sensitive compounds during production and handling.

Quality Control
Our argon is produced and handled under stringent quality management systems to ensure consistent purity and performance. We supply various grades, including Industrial Grade (99.99% / 4.0), High Purity Grade (99.999% / 5.0), and Ultra High Purity (UHP, 99.9999% / 6.0), tailored to specific application requirements. Each batch is analyzed, and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing purity and impurity levels (e.g., O2, N2, H2O, THC) is available upon request to support your quality assurance protocols.
Storage
Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Argon gas is supplied in high-pressure cylinders, bundles, or liquid dewars. Cylinders must be stored upright in a well-ventilated, dry, cool area away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials. Storage temperature should not exceed 52°C (125°F). Ensure area is clearly marked and complies with local regulations for compressed gases. Use appropriate pressure-regulating equipment.
