Description

Sus 316L CAS NO 11134-23-9 is a high-performance austenitic stainless steel powder, widely recognized for its exceptional corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. This material is critical for applications demanding superior durability in aggressive chemical and physiological environments. It is an essential raw material for manufacturers in the medical device, chemical processing, and high-precision additive manufacturing industries.

Application

  • Medical Implants and Surgical Instruments: Primary material for manufacturing bone plates, screws, spinal devices, and surgical tools due to its excellent biocompatibility and resistance to bodily fluids.
  • Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing): Used in powder bed fusion (PBF) technologies, such as Selective Laser Melting (SLM) and Electron Beam Melting (EBM), to produce complex, high-strength components.
  • Chemical Processing Equipment: Fabrication of valves, pump components, reactor vessels, and piping systems that handle corrosive acids, chlorides, and other aggressive media.
  • Marine and Offshore Engineering: Components exposed to seawater, such as fittings, fasteners, and underwater housings, benefit from its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
  • Pharmaceutical and Food Processing: Used in equipment where high cleanliness, sterilizability, and resistance to cleaning agents are paramount.
  • Aerospace and Automotive: Manufacture of lightweight, high-strength parts requiring good mechanical properties at elevated temperatures and corrosion resistance.

Quality Control

Our Sus 316L powder is manufactured under strict quality management systems to ensure batch-to-batch consistency and compliance with international material standards. Production is controlled against stringent specifications for chemical composition, particle size distribution (PSD), flowability, and apparent density. Each lot is accompanied by a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing key parameters. We can supply grades compliant with ASTM F138/F139 (ISO 5832-1), ASTM A240, and other relevant industry specifications upon request.

Storage

Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area at room temperature (15-25°C). The powder is hygroscopic (moisture-sensitive) and must be protected from atmospheric moisture to prevent oxidation and caking. Keep away from strong acids and oxidizing agents. For long-term storage, consider using an inert gas atmosphere (e.g., argon) within the container.
