Description
Macor is a high-performance, machinable glass-ceramic material renowned for its exceptional electrical insulation, thermal stability, and vacuum integrity. Its unique combination of properties makes it an indispensable engineering solution where conventional metals, plastics, or ceramics fall short. This material is critical for manufacturers and R&D facilities in the aerospace, semiconductor, medical device, and high-energy physics sectors requiring reliable performance in extreme environments.
Application
- Semiconductor Fabrication: Used for wafer processing components, insulators, and plasma etch chambers due to its ultra-high vacuum compatibility and low particulate generation.
- Aerospace & Defense: Ideal for radar and microwave tube components, missile guidance systems, and structural insulators where thermal shock resistance and dimensional stability are paramount.
- Medical & Life Sciences: Employed in MRI equipment, surgical laser components, and sterilization trays because of its biocompatibility, non-porosity, and ability to withstand repeated autoclaving.
- High-Voltage/High-Temperature Engineering: Serves as a robust insulator and structural support in electrical feedthroughs, furnace components, and laser housings.
- Precision Machining & Prototyping: Valued for its ability to be machined to tight tolerances with standard metalworking tools, making it perfect for custom fixtures, gauges, and prototypes.
- Scientific Research Equipment: Used in particle accelerators, cryogenic systems, and analytical instrument components requiring a combination of electrical insulation and thermal management.

Quality Control
Every batch of Macor is manufactured under stringent process controls to ensure consistent mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. We adhere to the original manufacturer's rigorous specifications, with quality verified through comprehensive testing including dimensional accuracy, dielectric strength, thermal expansion coefficient, and chemical durability. A Certificate of Conformance (CoC) detailing lot-specific properties is provided with each shipment, and material traceability is maintained throughout the supply chain.
Storage
Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area at room temperature (15-25°C). Keep away from strong acids/organic solvents and fluoride/strong alkali to prevent surface etching. Although not hygroscopic, prolonged exposure to high humidity should be avoided to maintain optimal surface quality for bonding or metallization processes.
