Description

Nitric Acid Fuming 100% is a highly concentrated, red-fuming nitric acid (RFNA) characterized by its intense oxidizing power and high volatility. This grade is critical for applications requiring an extremely aggressive nitrating and oxidizing agent, offering superior reactivity compared to standard nitric acid solutions. It is an essential raw material for the synthesis of specialty chemicals, high-energy materials, and advanced material processing in industries such as aerospace, defense, and fine chemical manufacturing.

Application

  • Rocket Propellant Formulation: As a powerful liquid oxidizer in bipropellant systems for aerospace and defense applications.
  • Specialty Nitration Reactions: For the production of high-energy nitro compounds, explosives, and specialty nitro-organics in fine chemical synthesis.
  • Metal Etching and Passivation: Used in the precise etching and surface treatment of specialty metals and alloys, including stainless steel and titanium.
  • Laboratory Reagent: Employed as a fuming acid for demanding analytical procedures and research-scale nitrations.
  • Catalyst and Reagent Production: In the manufacture of catalysts and other chemical reagents where a powerful, anhydrous nitrating agent is required.
  • Dye and Pigment Intermediates: For the synthesis of complex aromatic nitro compounds used in dye and pigment manufacturing.

Quality Control

Our Nitric Acid Fuming 100% is manufactured and tested under stringent controls to meet the demanding requirements of industrial and defense applications. Quality is assured through comprehensive analytical testing, including assay, nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) content, and impurity profiling. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing batch-specific results is provided with every shipment to ensure traceability and compliance with your technical specifications.

Storage

Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and incompatible materials such as organic compounds, strong reducing agents, and bases. Due to its highly volatile and corrosive nature, containers must be kept upright and sealed to prevent pressure build-up and fume release. Recommended storage temperature is between 15°C to 25°C in a dedicated acid storage cabinet or area.
