Description
Microcrystalline Wax CAS NO 63231-60-7 is a refined, high-molecular-weight hydrocarbon derived from petroleum, characterized by its fine crystal structure, high viscosity, and excellent flexibility compared to paraffin wax. This unique combination of properties makes it an indispensable material for enhancing the performance, durability, and texture of a wide range of industrial and consumer products. It is a critical component for formulators and manufacturers in sectors such as adhesives, cosmetics, packaging, and rubber, where it provides superior binding, sealing, and protective functions.
Application
- Adhesives & Hot Melts: Imparts flexibility, improves cohesive strength, and enhances the setting time of pressure-sensitive and hot-melt adhesives.
- Cosmetics & Personal Care: Used as a thickening agent, stabilizer, and emollient in lipsticks, creams, ointments, and pomades to provide structure and a smooth application feel.
- Packaging & Coatings: Serves as a key ingredient in flexible packaging coatings, providing excellent moisture barrier properties and heat-sealability.
- Rubber & Tire Industry: Acts as a processing aid and anti-ozonant wax, blooming to the surface to protect rubber products from ozone cracking.
- Candles & Polishes: Used in specialty candles for opacity and to improve the hardness and gloss of automotive, floor, and shoe polishes.
- Plastics & Masterbatches: Functions as an internal and external lubricant in polymer processing to improve flow and mold release.
- Investment Casting: Employed in pattern wax formulations for its dimensional stability and precise melting characteristics.
- Food & Chewing Gum: Approved for use as a glazing agent, release agent, or chewing gum base, providing non-stick properties and texture.

Quality Control
Our Microcrystalline Wax is manufactured under a strict quality management system. Each batch undergoes rigorous testing against established specifications for key parameters such as congealing point, penetration, viscosity, and oil content to ensure consistent performance and purity. We can supply grades compliant with relevant industry standards, including FDA regulations for indirect food contact (21 CFR 172.886, 178.3710) and USP/NF where applicable. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is provided with every shipment to guarantee traceability and compliance.
Storage
Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heat sources and open flame. Recommended storage temperature is between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Keep away from strong oxidizing agents.
