Description

Epon 815 is a low molecular weight, liquid epoxy resin based on bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin, widely recognized for its versatility and excellent performance characteristics. This product is a fundamental building block in the formulation of high-performance coatings, adhesives, and composite materials, offering superior chemical resistance and strong adhesion to diverse substrates. It is essential for manufacturers in the aerospace, marine, electronics, and construction industries seeking durable, protective finishes and structural bonding solutions. The compound is supplied as a clear, viscous liquid ready for curing with a wide range of hardeners.

Application

  • High-Performance Coatings: Formulation of industrial and marine protective coatings, floor paints, and tank linings requiring exceptional chemical and corrosion resistance.
  • Structural Adhesives & Sealants: Used in aerospace, automotive, and construction for bonding metals, composites, and other materials where high strength and durability are critical.
  • Electrical & Electronic Encapsulation: Potting and encapsulation of transformers, insulators, and circuit boards to provide excellent electrical insulation and environmental protection.
  • Composite Materials: Acts as the matrix resin in fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) for lightweight structural components in wind energy, automotive, and sporting goods.
  • Civil Engineering & Construction: Key component in grouts, mortars, and repair compounds for concrete rehabilitation and anchoring systems.
  • Tooling & Molding: Used to produce master models, patterns, and molds in the foundry and prototyping industries due to its low shrinkage and dimensional stability.

Quality Control

Our Epon 815 is manufactured under a strict quality management system to ensure batch-to-batch consistency and performance reliability. Each lot undergoes rigorous analytical testing, including measurement of epoxy equivalent weight (EEW), viscosity, color, and hydrolyzable chloride content. Certificates of Analysis (COA) documenting full specifications are available upon request. Our production and quality processes are designed to support compliance with relevant industry standards for high-performance materials.

Storage

Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area at temperatures between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F). Keep away from heat sources, open flames, and incompatible materials such as strong acids, bases, and oxidizing agents. Under these conditions, the product has a typical shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture. Moisture absorption should be minimized.
