Description

Niobium Hydride is an inorganic compound of niobium and hydrogen, widely utilized as a precursor material in advanced metallurgy and materials science. Its ability to act as a hydrogen source and alloying agent makes it a critical component for developing high-performance, specialized alloys and coatings. This material is essential for industries focused on aerospace engineering, superconducting materials, and high-temperature applications where material stability and specific chemical properties are paramount.

Application

  • Alloy Production: A key precursor for manufacturing niobium-based superalloys used in jet engine components and gas turbines.
  • Superconducting Materials: Used in the production of niobium-tin (Nb3Sn) and other superconducting compounds for MRI magnets and particle accelerators.
  • Powder Metallurgy: Serves as a source material for producing high-purity niobium metal powders via dehydrogenation processes.
  • Surface Hardening: Employed in thermochemical diffusion processes to enhance the surface hardness and wear resistance of metal parts.
  • Hydrogen Storage Research: Investigated as a potential material for solid-state hydrogen storage systems due to its hydride-forming properties.
  • Gettering Applications: Acts as a getter material in vacuum systems and electronic components to absorb residual gases.
  • Catalyst Preparation: Used as a starting material for synthesizing specialized catalysts in hydrogenation and dehydrogenation reactions.
  • Additive Manufacturing: Incorporated into metal powders for 3D printing of complex, high-strength components for demanding environments.

Quality Control

Our Niobium Hydride is manufactured under controlled conditions to ensure batch-to-batch consistency and high purity. Quality is verified through a series of analytical techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD) for phase identification, inert gas fusion for hydrogen content analysis, and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) for metallic impurity profiling. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing specific lot results is provided with every shipment, ensuring compliance with your technical requirements.

Storage

Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area at room temperature (15-25°C). Due to its hygroscopic and easily oxidized nature, this material must be stored under an inert atmosphere (argon or nitrogen) in a moisture-free environment to prevent degradation. Keep away from strong oxidizing agents and acids.
