Description
Barite CAS NO 13462-86-7 is a high-purity, naturally occurring barium sulfate mineral, valued for its high density, chemical inertness, and brightness. It serves as a critical weighting agent and functional filler across multiple heavy industries, providing essential performance characteristics in drilling fluids and composite materials. This product is essential for oil & gas drilling, paint and coatings manufacturing, plastics production, and the rubber industry.
Application
- Oil & Gas Drilling Fluids: Primary application as a high-density weighting agent to control wellbore pressure and prevent blowouts.
- Paints & Coatings: Used as an extender and filler to improve durability, brightness, and chemical resistance while reducing raw material costs.
- Plastics & Polymers: Acts as a functional filler to increase density, improve dimensional stability, and enhance surface finish in engineered plastics.
- Rubber Industry: Incorporated to increase weight, improve resistance to wear, and provide a smooth finish in rubber products.
- Construction Materials: Used in heavy concrete for radiation shielding and as a filler in friction materials like brake pads.
- Medical Diagnostics: High-purity grades are utilized as a radiocontrast agent in X-ray imaging and other diagnostic procedures.

Quality Control
Our Barite is produced and tested under a stringent quality management system to ensure batch-to-batch consistency and performance reliability for industrial applications. We provide material that meets or exceeds API 13A specifications for drilling-grade barite and can supply grades tailored for paints, plastics, and medical uses. A comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing chemical composition, physical properties, and performance tests is available for every shipment.
Storage
Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area at room temperature (15-25°C). Keep away from incompatible materials. Although chemically stable, the material is hygroscopic (moisture-sensitive) and should be protected from prolonged exposure to high humidity to prevent caking.
