Description

Lithium Orthosilicate is an inorganic lithium compound with the chemical formula Li4SiO4. This material is of significant industrial interest due to its role as a high-temperature CO2 sorbent and as a key component in advanced ceramic and glass-ceramic formulations. It is primarily sought by manufacturers and researchers in the fields of environmental technology, energy storage, and specialty materials. Its unique ionic conductivity and thermal stability make it a valuable precursor for solid-state electrolytes and protective coatings.

Application

  • High-Temperature CO2 Capture: Used as a solid sorbent in post-combustion carbon capture systems for power plants and industrial processes.
  • Solid-State Electrolytes: Serves as a precursor or component in lithium-ion conducting ceramics for next-generation batteries.
  • Ceramic & Glass-Ceramic Production: Acts as a fluxing agent and a source of lithium oxide in specialty glasses, enamels, and low-expansion ceramics.
  • Welding & Brazing Fluxes: Incorporated into fluxes for joining metals and alloys, improving flow and reducing oxidation.
  • Protective Coatings: Utilized in thermal barrier and corrosion-resistant coatings for high-temperature metallic components.
  • Nuclear Fusion Technology: Investigated as a potential tritium breeding material in fusion reactor blanket designs due to its lithium content.
  • Catalyst Support: Functions as a stable, high-surface-area support for various heterogeneous catalysts.

Quality Control

Our Lithium Orthosilicate is manufactured under strict process controls to ensure batch-to-batch consistency and high purity. Quality is verified through a suite of analytical techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD) for phase identification and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) for elemental assay. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing purity, particle size distribution, and impurity levels is provided with each shipment. We adhere to relevant ISO 9001 quality management principles.

Storage

Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Due to its hygroscopic nature, this material must be stored in a cool, dry place, ideally under an inert atmosphere (e.g., argon or nitrogen) to prevent moisture absorption and caking. The recommended storage temperature is between 15°C and 25°C. Keep the container tightly sealed when not in use.
