Description

Tungsten Carbide (WC) is an exceptionally hard and dense refractory ceramic material, composed of tungsten and carbon atoms in a 1:1 stoichiometric ratio. Its outstanding combination of high hardness, wear resistance, and thermal stability makes it indispensable for creating durable components that must withstand extreme abrasive and erosive environments. This material is a critical raw input for manufacturers in the mining, metalworking, oil & gas, and precision engineering sectors, where tool longevity and performance are paramount.

Application

  • Cutting, Drilling, and Milling Tools: Primary material for inserts, end mills, and drill bits used in metal machining and mining.
  • Wear-Resistant Parts: Used in the production of nozzles, valve seats, pump seals, and liners for slurry handling in mining and industrial processing.
  • Metal Forming Tools: Essential for dies, punches, and anvils in wire drawing, forging, and stamping operations.
  • Mining and Construction: Key component in rock drill tips, tunnel boring machine picks, and road planing teeth.
  • Oil & Gas Drilling: Used in hardfacing applications and as a constituent in matrix body drill bits for enhanced durability.
  • Precision Instrumentation: Employed in high-precision gauges, bearing surfaces, and surgical tools where dimensional stability is critical.
  • Abrasive and Anti-Wear Coatings: Applied via thermal spray (HVOF, plasma) to protect components from erosion and corrosion.
  • Carbide Alloy Production: Sintered with cobalt or nickel binders to create cemented carbide composites for various industrial tools.

Quality Control

Our Tungsten Carbide powders are manufactured under stringent process controls to ensure batch-to-batch consistency in particle size, purity, and morphology. Quality is verified through a suite of analytical techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD) for phase identification, laser diffraction for particle size distribution (PSD), and chemical analysis for carbon and tungsten content. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) detailing lot-specific results is provided with every shipment. We can supply grades tailored to meet various industrial standards for cemented carbide production.

Storage

Preserve in a tightly closed container, protected from light. Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area at room temperature (15-25°C). As a fine powder, it should be kept away from ignition sources and incompatible materials such as strong oxidizers. The container must be kept tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and contamination.
